Mk 1 Golf GTI A successful, well known race car with over 20 yrs racing history originally built & developed by Dave Garthwaite for Hot Hatch Championship where it was a regular race winner. It was then raced in the CTCRC Group 1 Touring Car Championship where it became very successful and achieved over 30 class wins and was championship runner up twice. More recently it has raced in Toyo Tires Racing Saloons (TTRS) Specification: Currently fitted with a full race Paul Sanderson 1.8 engine with modified K-Jet. Close ratio gear box with QUAIFE diff, 4.2 final drive, rose jointed linkage & race clutch. AP 4 pot front brakes. Rear disc conversion & bias pedal box. Fully adjustable LEDA suspension, rose jointed top mounts and track rod ends. Bump steer & roll centre correctors & solid bushes throughout. Custom made baffled race fuel tank with aeroquip fuel lines. Brand new 2.5 Jextex exhaust system. 4-2-1 branch heat insulated manifold. Plumbed in lifeline extinguisher. Sparco seat, new 6 point Sabelt harness.
