For sale due to new Motorsport interests is what is more than likely the quickest sub 1800 Peugeot 205 in the ASWMC.
Here’s the spec and this is quite a list –
Originally a Slick 50 racer built by the team at Haynes Motor Museum the car is now a dedicated Hill climb sprint car, Powered by a SRD 1761cc engine (mi16 pistons, baffled sump, Jenvey throttle bodies with 2 stage 8 injectors, Kent cam with vernier pulley on Emerald management with map able ECU) With a recent upgrade head at end of last season – Anyone who knows Mark Shillabeer’s work will know how quick his engines are – This is no exceptionand to build another engine to this spec would cost somewhere between £4.5-5k!– If you have been around the Hill climb scene for a while you may well remember Steve Roger’s indececently fast Benetton blue coloured 306 that he shared with Mark - This is the engine from that car ... It then ended in another 205 that was piloted by a lunatic Cornishman (Hi Andy!) Who pretty much won everything in sight on the Cornish hills and sprint scene...? He then decided to sell up to go single seater and I was lucky enough to persuade him to sell me the engine. Engine has been recently re set up on the rollers and was showing a conservative 150 @ the wheels. Sounds amazing – People stop what they’re doing to listen to it when it’s on the hill/Circuit... Car has been regularly A driven including once by single seater ace “Revving” Roy Simms who subsequently wrote in the motor club magazine “the engine in that 205 is something else” – He was NOT being rude... As he also has a SRD lump in his car – Another endorsement for SRD’s quality.
Car has the customary if you’re serious about your205 breathed on by Colin Satchell (Another legend!) suspension geometry with one of his amazing gearstick conversions and a trick gearbox with picked ratio’s – Car has a paddle clutch & LSD the maker of which escapes me but it’s VERY effective and I am sure a plate type. 405 discs with Wilwood callipers make it STOP as well as it goes! Adjustable Leda struts front and rear & sitting on Compomotives all round under wide arches... Body work present (!) but maybe a little tired if honest...
Interior stripped as you would imagine – Cobra Seat with 3” Aircraft buckle harness, Armtech tacho, Rev limiter, Push button start , Fuel tank in boot (Under floor) Braided lines , Full cage very properly bolted in – Car has NEVER failed scrutineering or noise test and is obviously MSA log booked.
Car has as you would imagine has proved to be very competitive with class wins to its name and was holder of (the class) fastest quarter at Chivenor sprint at one point – I have simply not given it the seat time it and I deserve) or it would have had a lot more wins..
I have probably forgotten some important bits so feel free to email / Text etc to ask – I will miss the car as it’s been a BIG part of my life for a fair while – It’s an absolute blast to drive and it is fair to say far far better than its driver! – I am only selling as been seduced by the dark side and am going rallying....
